This Division supervises life-assurance companies.

Supervision is done by regular monitoring and on-site inspections of the companies. Supervisory activities  focus on whether companies hold sufficient capital against the risks assumed by the com-panies, and whether companies have an effective system of governance. Supervisory activities also include ensuring that costumers receive a fair share of the profits which they have contributed to generate.

The Division is responsible for regulation in the insurance area of the Danish Financial Business Act. The Division is also responsible for implementing Solvency II in Danish legislation. In addition, the Division is responsible for the underlying executive orders and guidelines.

At international level, the Division participates in work on drafting the forthcoming risk-based Sol-vency II regime. This work takes place primarily in working groups under the regulatory authority the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) and the Solvency Expert Group of the Commission (SEG).
